.hack//Reparation, chapter 1

Okay, there's a story behind this...er...story. Allow me to explain.
First of all, I would like to thank you all for undertaking the task of reading this story.
It should go without saying, but there are going to be spoilers, even in this short foreword - as the story assumes quite a bit. Set six months after the end of Redemption, it assumes the events of the G.U. games have long since been resolved; it assumes the promise card given to Haseo by Aura was in turn given to Endrance; it assumes that AIDA and Epitaph Users are no longer something that needs to stay hidden from The World; and it assumes that monsters are now able to spawn in a Lost Ground, just beneath the level of the party leader or solo player who has entered the area. It assumes that AIDA has once more become aggressive and a threat to The World. It assumes there are players behind certain characters where there might in fact not be any. It assumes many things that require suspension of disbelief, but none greater than the games themselves would ask you to have. Therefore, I hope your disbelief can be put aside, and that you can enjoy this story as the immersive, involving experience I would like it to be.
.hack//Reparation follows the story of Enoki - an Adept Rogue just as Haseo before him, a normal player drawn into a role much bigger than he could ever have expected - and his circle of friends, some new, some old, but all just as dedicated to removing the aggressive AIDA from the world once more. Together, they will face threats beyond human comprehension, gain powerful allies but lose precious friends, and eventually undertake the biggest decision of all - is it worth giving up so much for the sake of a game?
This is the story of many people from different walks of life coming together for one purpose: to save The World that they love so much.
I hope you enjoy reading.
Cheesy? Hell yes.
One more thing that needs to be explained: this fic runs mostly on what I like to call "Zelkova-loopholes". That is to say, Zelkova is responsible one way or another for most of the events that happen. The biggest way in which this becomes evident is in Enoki's three classes, as his PC quite obviously breaks the system rules. I have yet to explain it (I may write a side-story after the main fic explaining it), but Zelkova is responsible for Enoki having the Harvest Cleric class on top of his original choices of Blade Brandier and Flick Reaper.
...But I'm totally not responsible for Enoki all but turning into Zelkova in the later chapters, I swear. How was I supposed to know he'd end up equally as good at hacking and the like? >_>
Bah. I'm sick of explanations. On to the fic!
